My idea
my first idea is an entertainment news show that follows all the latest news from the world of popular tv shows, music, film, sport and gaming. the show will have updates from popular Netflix and cable shows aswell as hollywood movies. it will also cover the latest in the music world; the news will be based on popular music (chart music) with a broad appeal. its sports aspect will be an update on a particular team such as the basketball team at ashton sixth form.
topics such as award ceremonies (Golden globes, the oscars, people choices award) will be covered, along with latest music releases; album, hits....
Target audience:
the target audience for this entertainment news show will be from to age of 13 up to 30. the reason behind the target audience choice is the fact that the shows or music that will be covered on the show are recent tv shows or music, shows and music that's mainly viewed by a youthful audience.
the topics will be mainstream therefore the target audience will be a mainstream audience as mainstream shows have a broad appeal.
the choice of using a college basketball team will be highly effective in getting young people interested in the show for they will tune in to support their friends.
Constraints
the main constraints that this show will face is keeping the latest news on the script. we might write a script about a story that is recent in the moment but after shooting the show a week later , that piece of news will be highly irrelevant. the only way to stop this from happening is to keep the writing team on their "A game" just incase the script needs readjusting.
the anchors might not be the kind of anchors we want. they might be too serious or too informal for the show. to prevent any trouble with the anchors from presenting themselves we will audition a few and have a round table read though the script before we make our decision.
the vt might delay the production if not shot in time. the solution is to prioritise the vt before filming so we can avoid any forms of delay.
Genre:
The genre for this particular news show is a hybrid , it will be mainly entertainment with the elements of sport, music, film and tv. generic conventions of such genres are with music news you expect to hear and watch a music video or interviews with the artists. film and tv you usually see trailers, actors, directors or reviews and stats about the box office. with sport it is usually the score of games, speculations of upcoming games and even highlights from previous games. but mainly the generic conventions of an entertainment news show are studio news readers, interviews, the mode of address is usually casual and relaxed.
Guests/Crew needed:
the production will need one anchor and a news corespondent. the anchor to present the news and the news corespondent to go on locations if needed. the only guests that will be needed are the basketball team of ashton sixth for and their coach for the sport segment. in terms of crew a director will be needed, sound engineer, vision mixer, production manager, floor manager, camera operators and filming crew for the vt.
VT:
the vt will be a short clip of the basketball team in training as they prepare for their next game and tournament.
Outline structure:
the show will start with a montage of all the headlines of which are about to come on. after that a graphic of the show will come on.
the anchor will then introduce himself and begin with the first topic of the show , there will be categories: tv, film,music and sports, each category will get two headlines.
the anchor will begin with the latest news from the film world, TV, music and sports exclusively in that order.
a transition of movie news will appear as the anchor presents the news in the film world, they will then introduce the topics of tv shows news, some graphics will appear as topics are brought up along with some videos.
another transition will appear for the music news segment.
the news from the music world will be covered after the transition.
another transition of sports news will appear , a vt of the basketball team training will be shown as the topic is presented by the anchor. an exclusive interview with the team will be shown .
after the sports news segment the anchor will sign out.
three act structure. (2015 what's new ?)
Act 1
a montage of all the upcoming topics will be played and followed by a graphic of the new show.
the anchor will then introduce himself and begin with first headline. During the first act the anchor will cover four headlines from the tv and film world.
Act 2
A montage of entertainment and music news will be played and a transition will be played.
the anchor will then introduce the first topic. during this act the anchor will cover four topics from both the entertainment and music world.
Act 3
a montage of gaming and sport news will be played and followed with a transition, the anchor will then cover two headlines from the gaming world. following the gaming world the anchor will introduce the sports headline and the vt will play of the basketball team playing aswell as an exclusive interview with the team captain and team players.
the vt cut back to the studio and the anchor will sign out.
